2011 Harriton Crew
Volunteer Opportunities

Dear Parents of Harriton Crew:

Congratulations to your child for making the Harriton Crew Team! Having a child on crew means that all parents must be involved in supporting crew. Besides contributing dues (which are the lowest of any crew team in this area), every parent, both mother and father, must contribute time as a volunteer to the crew team. Therefore, we are asking that each parent volunteer for one of the following jobs. Two of the most important positions that need to be filled are the trailer hauler and launch drivers. Additionally, every family needs to contribute food for one race. Each family needs to contribute enough food for 30 people. For more detailed information on tent and food responsibilities, please check the website under the section Hospitality/Tent.

You need to contact Nancy Watson at notablenancy@harritoncrew.org or call 610-658-0987 to volunteer for one of these positions AND to give a first and second choice date for your food contribution. You must do so no later than Wednesday, March 23rd. If you do not contact Nancy by that date, you will be asked to take one of the remaining positions and be assigned a date to provide food. The jobs listed below are still available, except those that already have a name listed.

Volunteer Jobs:

Trailer Hauler: someone must pull the trailer from Harriton to the river on race days and haul it back to the school when the race is over. We will provide the hitch. This does not require you to wait at the river all day. You can be called. Parking passes provided. This can be done by two people: a.m. shift- Gino Collela / p.m. shift: Andrew Goerlich

Non-Food Supplies/Beverages: Jan Schechter

Tent Parents: we are asking for two sets of parents to set up the tent, food, bring ice etc. 6 am-11am, and two sets of parents to continue with tent duty and close down the tent 11am-5:30 pm (perhaps earlier if we have no boats in the finals). PM shift tent parents need to call ahead to see if anything is needed, especially ice, and need to call the trailer hauler at noon to let them know the approximate time for trailer pick-up time. Parking Passes provided for Tent Parents.

Launch Drivers: we need 2 for each race. A launch course is offered every spring by PSRA to become qualified. This year the course will be offered at: Vesper Boat Club located at 10 Kelly Drive on Tuesday, April 12th and Thursday, April 14th at 6:30pm. The course is not required if you are an experienced boatsman. Please contact Colleen Wortley at weblwgn@verizon.net.
